Not only is aluminum relatively weaker, it is also more difficult to repair aluminum trailers because aluminum does not weld as easily as steel. Besides, aluminum is a good conductor of heat making it difficult to keep the horses cool in summer months.

After some extensive research, manufacturers are now attempting to build durable horse trailers free from all defects posed both by steel and aluminum. They are aiming to produce horse trailers that will be dependable, last longer and provide greater comfort to the horses.

Overcoming the rust problem of steel has led manufacturers to use galvanized steel and powder-coated materials. These alternatives are tough and capable of easy repairs and also relatively inexpensive.
