Conserving Water
Charity does begin at home. Just few small steps can make all the difference in the world. There are places in the world that is drought stricken and here we are not having a care in the world. What can we do to save precious water? Let’s find out today.
Start by becoming conscious about saving water and follow it through and always remember every drop counts.
Don’t keep the water running when you’re brushing your teeth and cleaning the dishes. You have no idea how much water you will save. Get into the habit of turning the water on and off between mouth gargles while brushing your teeth. Easy, right?
We all love those long showers but that’s got to stop. You can’t have the water running while you’re applying soap, shampoo, body wash, conditioner etc, etc! You can still enjoy your shower while you turn the supply off in between your regime. That’s almost a 1000 litres of water saved right there!
We know you love your car; so take it to the car wash. While washing your car at home you waste a lot of water. What you don’t know is that car washes have to adhere to water consumption rules. Their systems preserve water and dispose chemicals used in the process properly. You may think of this as an added expense but it is more economical in the long run. Let’s face it, your car will look much better after the car wash!
Make smarter choices. Thankfully you can have a lot of trinkets and appliances that actually conserve water. You now have special shower heads that consume lesser water but give you the same force and injection that you need, you can opt for washing machines that use lesser water. While doing your laundry build up a load and do it all at once. This will help immensely.
Rain water tanks are another great way of saving water and your money. You may think installing a ran water tank is expensive but think of it as a long term investment. Here rain water is channelled into the special storage tanks. The water from these tanks can be used for multiple chores around the house.
Rain Again Tanks in Queensland understands the value of every drop of water and that’s why they have designed a wide range of poly rainwater tanks that can save up to 6000 gallons of water with these tanks. You can visit their website to have a look at their tanks www.rainagaintanks.com.au.

Should I re-sand my table completely?
Alright, I am building a poker table and have a center racetrack that I stained and started applying poly to. I never did any word working or varnishing so I need some help. The first two coats of poly were thin and applied with a foam brush. The area is not "well" ventalated but most dust should have been settled. I wasn't thinking and went to build something for my daughter and sanded it down leaving lots of dust particles in the air, and I then applied a thick coat of poly. Now i have plenty of little bumps and specs all over the table. Would my best bet be to sand it all down with 220 grit sanding block? sand down a little and wipe a thin coat on with a rag? Open to all answers thanks.
Depends on how mucked it got.
You may get away with a light sanding...you may have to begin at the beginning. Be sure to let coats dry thoroughly and sand between coats 00 steel wool works great too. Always wipe with a soft damp rag. Small foam rollers actually work best for application.
A trick to getting poly to level and flow nicely is to be sure the poly is warmer then the room temp. This can be done by decanting into your tray and putting the tray in the sun for a few minutes.
I find, when curing poly between coats, tenting with a trap keeps out the inevitable dust or curious child's thumbprint. I normally let the poly cure for 24 hours before I apply another coat. It takes 7 days after applying the final coat before I put the object in use and 30 days before it's allowed to have anything on it permanently.
