Why you ought to be wary of low cost spa covers

A typical question I hear all the time is:The spa cover has deteriorated simply because the inner foam inserts are now cracked and water-logged."

No matter what, your cheap spa cover will deteriorate and sooner or later turn out to be inadequate. Even more important to the existence span will be the Quality of the cover. Most spa covers look the same, but in fact, differences in construction and materials can make a massive distinction within the life span. If you are only concerned with obtaining the most cost effective cover, then you might fall victim to buying a low cost spa cover that will require replaced in half the time as a more costly 1. Frequently spending 10% to 20% more on a cover will mean 100% much more existence span.

Let's think about foam density for a second. Cheap covers use a 1 pound denseness foam (denseness refers to how much one cubic foot of foam weighs). The lower the density of froth, the WEAKER it will probably be, and the much more prone to breakage. Also, lower density foam cores absorb more water, since they are not packed as tightly, which reduces the cover's ability to insulate the hot h2o. You should appear for higher density foams, from 1.5 to 2 pounds, which will last significantly longer for a little price distinction.

Another critical part of the cover is the outer vinyl covering. Vinyls are treated with UV inhibitors, although block the suns rays from degrading and breaking down the vinyl. Vinyl's capability to resist sunlight is rated in "UV hours" and a greater rating means more resistance. A low end score would be around five hundred hours, which is a typical figure for cheap quality covers. The highest score is 1500 hours...3 times the sunlight resistance. Just remember, a cover that's built much better will price more, but it will also last considerably lengthier.

One with the most damaging thing to spa covers is chemicals evaporating in the spa water. The chemicals break down the polyethylene sheeting that protects the foam cores from h2o absorption. Completely removing the cover in the spa for 20 minutes following shocking the water will assist in reducing this from happening. Additionally, different covers have various thicknesses of polyethylene sheeting. The lowest is about 2mil, while the thickest is about 6mil. Again, these extra options will price you a bit more up front, but will likely prevent you from having to purchase an additional cover down the road.

With those things in thoughts, you should consider if it is worth getting the least expensive spa cover. Our spa covers are inexpensive, and made to final, utilizing the greatest materials. There's an old saying, "measure twice, cut once"; well, do not cut corners when purchasing a new spa cover unless you wish to repeat
